Тип урока: урок обобщения и систематизации знаний.

Класс: 11

Цели:

активизация лексики по заданной теме;

развитие навыков устной речи, умения вести непринужденную беседу, высказывать свое мнение;

развитие навыков восприятия речи на слух и навыков выбора нужной информации из прослушанного текста.

Задачи:

Образовательные:

развивать умение кратко высказываться в связи с ситуацией общения,

используя аргументацию и выражая свое отношение к предмету речи;

формировать речевую деятельность учащихся на базе лексики по теме «Rights and responsibilities»;

развивать и совершенствовать навыки по всем видам речевой деятельности: аудированию, чтению, диалогической и монологической речи;

развивать навыки тематического высказывания;

использовать полученные знания в модулируемых жизненных ситуациях.

Развивающие:

развивать способность к анализу, обобщению;

развивать способность к языковой догадке в целях расширения потенциального лексического запаса;

развивать умение аргументировать свою точку зрения, делать выводы, подводить итоги;

Teenagers today have a lot more to worry about than their parents ever did. The world is becoming a very scary place. Violence, teen pregnancy, and AIDS cases are increasing. More and more teens are turning to drugs and alcohol.
I'm sure that almost every teenager will at one time or another have an experience with drugs, alcohol or sex. These things combined with personal problems and mates' influence make being a teenager very difficult. I don't have a single friend who has never had a drink of alcohol. Some of them don't drink at all now, but some do. It seems to me that adults are generally quite indifferent to what their children do. Once you reach the age of sixteen or seventeen, your parents think you are old enough to decide for yourself and let you do what you want».

Case "The rights and violations of the rights of adolescents" (Группа 1. Teenagers).

Young people around the world have expressed many different feelings and expectations about the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Read the opinions of your peers:

«I can't but agree that to have the right to life and protection is very important. But in my opinion, the Convention is useless. All adults do is talk; they can't be forced to put needs of children ahead of their own». (Gary)
«I'm sure the Convention is great and will bring children more rights. For the first time children have a document with which to work together on their problems». (Anny)
«The Convention says that all children have the right to life and protection. But I'm afraid the Convention cannot do anything about war and cruelty. These are the biggest problems that concern young people». (Ken)
«The Convention doesn't interest me; it's too complicated. I doubt whether it can give children real rights». (Sue)

2. Documents about the rights of children in Russia

In Russia all the rights of children are contained in legislative documents at various levels. Among them are the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Constitution of the Russian Federation, various state Codes and certain federal laws. All the rights of children, both within the framework of family relations and public relations, are most widely reflected in the Family Code.

2. Situations illustrating the violation of rights

1) Your math teacher forces you to attend additional classes.

2) I always rode my bike to school. But last month I got sick and was in the hospital. I have a friend. My friend asked me to lend him a bicycle. Now I'm cured. After discharge, I asked Igor to return the bike, but he does not give it back, because he believes that his new friends will laugh at him if he walks to school.

3) You decided to invite your friends to your house to have a party. But your parents are against it. Your mother says that she doesn't want to clean the house after the party, your father says that he is very tired after work, your grandmother says that she wants silence. But my friends insist.

4) Kolya and Sasha are old friends. Kolya used to ride a bicycle to school. But while he was in the hospital, he lent the bike to Sasha. After being discharged, Kolya wants to return the bike, but Sasha does not give it back, as he believes that his new friends will laugh at him if he walks to school.

5) Lena's parents are divorced. During the summer holidays, her mother forbids her daughter to go to visit her paternal grandmother.

6) Mother found her daughter's diary and read it, took it away and scolded the girl.

7) Petya got a mark of «2» in geometry yesterday. He had an unpleasant conversation with his parents at home and the punishment with a belt.

8) Kolya's parents forbid him to be friends with Misha, because he does not study well.

9) During school break Dima took the phone of a classmate to play without asking.

10) Dima's family went through a difficult period, the mother and father divorced. A mother forbids her son to communicate with his father.

11) The students of the 9th grade dislike their classmate. They decided to do something unpleasant for her. They went to the school toilet for girls and wrote unpleasant words on the walls, and also mentioned her home and cell phones.

12) A student of the 8th grade does not like to study, but he likes to talk loudly and even sing in the classroom .

13) The boys locked Dima in the biology room with a key and ran away. Dima was scared. Then the teacher opened the door.

14) The teacher did not allow the girl to the lesson, as she dyed her hair green

15) Dima (15-year-old) decided to join the school's youth organization. But his mother forbids him, explaining that participation in the organization can affect his academic performance.

16) Vasina's mother does not give him money for food in the school canteen. She explains him that she decided to save up for a fur coat.

«Responsibilities and the violation of responsibilities by  teenagers»

1. Legal knowledge

Nowadays legal knowledge is very necessary in Russian society. Unfortunately, not every young citizen, committing a particular offense, thinks about responsibility, which can lead to sad consequences. Every year, teenagers commit more than 145 thousand crimes, almost every fifth person is sent to special closed-type institutions to serve their sentences: from the age of 11 – to special schools, and from 14 – to educational and labor colonies.

The number of juvenile prisoners is 13 per 100 thousand of the population.

Ignorance of the law and a sense of impunity are the most common causes of delinquency among adolescents.

Adolescence is considered a turning point in the development of each individual. The aspiration to prove their independence and adulthood, youth maximalism pushes a teenager to rash actions, which in turn entail consequences of various kinds.

Most teenagers believe that they do not have to answer for what they have done.

They know their rights without knowing their responsibilities. Many teenagers do not believe that they are doing something illegal, or they think that "nothing will happen for this". Thus, ignorance of the law and a sense of impunity are the most common causes of delinquency among adolescents.


2. Situations.

1. Roma and Petya were on the bus, talking loudly, laughing, using obscene language, and reacting aggressively to the comments of others. What offense did the teenagers commit? What age does the responsibility for this offense begin at? What kind of punishment can you expect?

2. The teenager was detained on the street at 23: 40 without an adult escort. What punishment does he face?

3. A group of teenagers after a picnic in the forest left behind household waste.

4. Three students gathered for a disco. On the way we went to the store and bought a bottle of beer. Then in the alley, opposite the school, they drank it.

1. WHAT MAKES OUR CHILDREN DO THIS?

What teens' problems are discussed in this magazine article? While reading find the words in the article that can help you to understand the meaning of the highlighted words. Then find the correct meaning of these words in the column on the right, (reading for specific information)
Today it is fashionable to speak about teenage problems. A few years ago alcohol, fights, killings and other kinds of violence were more problems for adults than for young people.
But now, as official reports admit, violence, AIDS,* drugs and alcohol are more and more associated with youngsters. For many children from poor families violence, drinking problems and all that is associated with poverty becomes more real than reality.
The Government surveys show that every fifth teenager who was arrested for criminal actions, was younger than 14 and could not be sent to prison. Almost half of teenagers have an experience with drugs, alcohol and sex under age of 16. A lot of teenagers who have drug or alcohol addiction almost never believe that they are dependent. These things are often combined with family and school problems.
What has gone wrong? Some specialists explain that the changes of our society, the system of our life force young people to choose their own lifestyle. On the one hand, our society agrees that 15-17-year-old people are old enough to be responsible for what they do and give them quite a lot of freedom and rights. On the other hand, most adults think that teenagers are too young to be taken seriously. This misunderstanding produces many problems. Actually, a lot of teenagers say that their parents let them do anything they want and are quite indifferent to their problems. Many teenagers get upset or depressed when they can't solve their problems. As a result, it makes them believe that there is only one way out — to stop living and commit suicide.
No doubt, the teens' problems will increase. And young people should feel that they are cared for.

2.The opinion of your peers on the problem

1. All the problems discussed in the article can be applied to our country. Fights, killings, alcohol are also the problems of our teenagers. A lot of youngsters can be addicted to drugs and this lead to bad circumstances. The worst problem – it’s the attempt to commit a suicide, and this attempts increased lately.

2. I think that most of these problems can be applied to Russia. Violence, drugs, alchohol are problems for young people here. Many teenagers with drug or alchohol addiction do not admit that they are dependent. Teenagers in Russia also have family and school problems. Many teenaders lack understanding on the part on their parents. They say their parents are indifferent to their problems. And as many problems can't be solved by teenagers they began to think of commiti1мng suicide.
